ELIA Mission Statement, Aims and Objectives, Bylaws and Member Code of Conduct
ELIA Mission Statement ELIA is committed to representing the best interests of translation, interpretation and localization companies active in Europe by providing a forum for exchange, fostering the development of business relationships with fellow-members and other related international organizations, and promoting the concept of ethics and quality standards throughout the industry.
Aims and Objectives ELIA, a non-profit organization, aims to:
- Represent and promote the interests of the language industry in Europe
- Forge relationships with companies across Europe including but not limited to, the EU, its new member states and those who have applied to join
- Develop relationships with colleagues and related bodies from other parts of the world to make our voice heard worldwide
- Share information and experience to develop the industry
- Provide a forum for members to network and exchange information
- Promote the concept of ethics and quality standards throughout the industry
Bylaws ELIA's bylaws are the rules governing the internal management of our association. They describe the structure and provides detail the rights of the association's members, Board of Directors, and employees authority to the Board of Directors. It also describes the electoral process as well as how to conduct meetings as well as many other items.
Please note thate the bylaws are currently being revised.
Code of Conduct Companies applying to be members of ELIA must read and agree to adhere to the guidlines listed in ELIA's Code of Conduct. This document states that ELIA members will behave and perform their jobs, treat their clients, and other member in a transparent and ethical maner. ELIA believes these by promoting this code it can help maintain and even improve the reputation of all language service providers.
