Eszter Avar

I graduated as an economist with an MA in Management & Organisation. Prior to studying Economics, I gained masters degrees in both Psychology and Mathematics.

During my years of practising as an organisational development consultant, I have worked with several multinational companies eg. T-Com, Lufthansa Systems, Siemens, Vodafone, GE . However, my main focus has always been the world of small enterprises. In my experience, helping them to focus on "soft areas” such as communication, problem solving and leadership not only makes these small companies better businesses but places where it is fun to work.

I am also a university lecturer, my specializations are Organisational Development, Team Building, Communication and Presentation Skills.

Isin Bengi-Oner

CEO of diye Global Communications

Bengi-Oner is the co-founder of diye Global Communications, a company specialized in translation, localization, internationalization, project management, terminology management and text-production. With over 40 years of experience within the translation services industry, she brings her experience from the sector into higher education institutions, teaching translation in a wide range of subjects including translation theories, broadcast translation, technical writing and technical translation, creative writing and creative translation, translation/language technologies, translation of EU legislation.

Bengi-Oner is a board member of the Translation Companies Association in Turkey, editor-in-chief of Diye Translation Library. Author of numerous articles and 4 books on translation she holds a BA in English Literature, an MA in Linguistics from Bogazici University and a PhD in Linguistics from Hacettepe University.

Renato Beninatto

CEO, Milengo Inc.

Renato is the CEO of Milengo Inc., a full-service worldwide provider of localization, engineering and testing services with operations in 18 key markets across the Americas, Europe and Asia. Renato has forged a reputation for visionary leadership, most recently as the cofounder and former chief connector of Common Sense Advisory, the industry's foremost market research firm. Geert Benoit

Managing Director, Yamagata Europe

Geert holds an MA in Chinese and Japanese languages and an MBA at Vlerick Management School. He spent his first two professional years in Taiwan and Germany as a programmer of automation programs in the textile industry (for Barco Industries). Geert then spent two years completing additional language and business studies in Japan with an EU Commission scholarship (ETP). From 1992 through 1997, Geert worked in the localization industry (INK, Lionbridge) as business development manager and as a freelance technology consultant for the Japanese market. In 1998 he started Yamagata Europe as a daughter company of the Yamagata Group. Yamagata Europe operates as the knowledge centre for translation and localisation for the group and is also the proud developer of QA Distiller. 

Jeff Chin

Product Manager for Google Translate, Google

Jeff works with Google's machine translation research team to develop new languages and improve quality and with other teams on integrating translation features into their products (for example, cross-language search, Gmail and toolbar translation features and so on). Jeff has an MBA from the Haas School at the University of California, Berkeley, and a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.

Michael Galvez

Product Manager, Internationalization and Localization Team, Google

At Google Michael focuses on localization infrastructure and Google Translator Toolkit. Prior to joining Google, he worked in sales and engineering at various artificial intelligence startups. Michael has an MBA from the Tuck School at Dartmouth and a bachelor's degree in physics and computer science from Rutgers College, where he graduated with highest honors.

Sultan Ghaznawi

Director, YYZ Translations

Sultan is the President of YYZ Translations, based in Toronto, Canada. Under his leadership, YYZ Translations has grown from a small regional translation company, to a global scale localization firm and expanded internationally to support its clients in North America, Europe and Asia.

Sultan was the visionary behind adoption of revolutionary technologies within YYZ Translations. He championed the testing and deployment of GlobalSight for supporting business processes and management of localization activities within the company. He strongly believes in GlobalSight as a game changing TMS with open possibilities, and in open source technologies in general. He has joined the GlobalSight Steering Committee to represent the interests of LSPs and contribute to the long term evolution and development of GlobalSight.

Sultan attended the Computer Science program in University of Toronto.

Burak Gocmen

Copartner and Senior Project Manager, ES

Gocmen joined ES Ltd. as a testing expert for the Office 2000 in 1999. Since then, he has assumed roles in every service offered by ES to its customers. He celebrated his 10th year in the ES family in 2009.

He is currently working as a Senior Project Manager in the production team. He is responsible for delivering tasks on time with high quality standards, ensuring the quality standards set by the customers, planning and managing work flow, adjusting the plans as necessary, determining resources required, evaluating external localization teams as well as assigning tasks regarding Turkish, Arabic, Greek and Hebrew localization projects.

Göçmen completed his high school education in Robert College. He graduated from the department of Mechanical Engineering at Yildiz Technical University.

Daniel Goldschmidt

Principal consultant and co-founder, Localization Flow Technologies

Daniel has extensive experience in the internationalization and localization of large-scale enterprise applications and projects as a senior software engineer and a professional in the globalization of software and content field. Through his association with Localization Flow Technologies, Daniel provides his client base with internationalization and localization expertise: automation, process improvement, training and workshops.

He has previously served as a senior software engineer in the Google Internationalization Team, working on the Google Localization Framework, and he was appointed by the European Commission to serve as an independent expert in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) program.

He presents frequently in Localization World and in various other international events.

Daniel holds a B.Sc. in computer sciences and mathematics (Cum Laude) and a M.Sc. in computer sciences, both from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem.

Dilhun Derya Hacikulaoglu

Project Manager, IBM Turkey

Dilhun holds an MA in Translation-Interpretation from Bogazici Universiy. She has started and developed her professional carreer in the localization business and especially in the IT industry. She has taken part in many software localization projects as a translator, proof-reader, editor, tester and coordinator. Recently, she is working as a Project Manager at IBM Turkey. She manages the Translation Services Center, which is under Software Group and connected to IBM Worldwide Translation Organization. This unit is providing translation, localization, and globalization services to IBM Turkey and its affiliates.

Lorand Kis-Tamas

Management Consultant and Executive Coach, Corporate Values Consultancy Ltd.

Lorand graduated as a psychologist at Eotvos Lorand University of Sciences (ELTE), Hungary. During the university years he worked for a foundation (Kompania foundation), first as a volunteer, than as a program and project coordinator, finally as the chief executive of the foundation. The foundation mainly worked on the field of health care, drug prevention, peer helping, using psychological and sociological methods.

Since 2005 Lorand has been working for Corporate Values Consultancy Ltd., in the fields of organizational development consulting, executive and life coaching.

Udo Leiteritz

Udo manages Think Global’s Localization Engineering, IT, DTP and software development. In addition to his 10+ years of experience in the IT field, Udo has served large clients as a global project manager, and has been leading the development of the company’s own ERP systems since early 2008.

Konstantin Listratov

CEO, Global Link

Konstantin worked as a PR and marketing consultant for local and international projects and as a freelancer from 1998 till 2005. Since 2006 Konstantin is the co-founder of Global Link, a translation company, which provides a full range of professional translational services on Russian and international markets. The company possesses all the necessary resources, knowledge base, technologies, CAT-instruments, translation management systems for realization of translation projects in all branches of science and technology. Global Link cooperates with the Russian government structures, leading Russian and international companies. Konstantin has been using PM software and technologies to manage translation projects in Global Link Ltd. from the beginning of the foundation of Global Link Ltd. Konstantin graduated from the Philosophy Faculty of Moscow State University and has a Ph.D. in political science. He is a certified IPMA Level D - Certificated Project Management Specialist.

Mete Ozel

Assistant Managing Director, Mirora International Translations and Consultancy

Mete Ozel is one of the founding partners and the assistant Managing Director of Mirora International Translations and Consultancy Company based in Dublin and in Istanbul. The focus of the company is the translations of medical devices and pharmaceuticals.

Mete is a board member and General Secretary of Translation Companies Association in Turkey and the General Coordinator of [C.N.], a literary translation periodical. He has numerous essays published in daily papers and literary magazines and poems published in various periodicals. He is the author of the poetry book “Ilgım Dus Esrar”.

Mete holds a BA in English Philology from Istanbul University.

Patricia Muñoz Tavira

The Institute of Localisation Professionals (TILP)

After graduating in translation and interpreting from Pompeu Fabra University in 2001, Patricia moved to Belgium and began working as a terminologist at Lessius University College while translating as a freelancer. Between 2004 and 2009 she combined lecturing translation, interpreting and localization subjects at the department of Translation Studies of the University College Gent with research in Terminology and some translation work as a freelancer. Involved in the development of CLP level 1 as an author as well as in its implementation as a TILP trainer, Patricia joined the Council of TILP in 2008 and left the university in the summer of 2009 for the function of TILP manager. At the beginning of 2009, she was appointed to represent World Information Transfer, NGO in consultative status with the United Nations, in Geneve and Vienna UN offices. Patricia also holds an MBA from the universities Autonomous of Barcelona, Carlos III of Madrid and Alicante.

Tamara Vera Nadeje

CFO, Milengo Limited

During her professional career and prior accepting high level posts with various industry leaders, Tamara gained substantial experience working with two of the ´big four´ audit firms, where she developed her thorough skills in international corporate finance and management consultancy, handling and advising international clients, as well as Government institutions. She has been living and working in Malta for more than ten years and has since then gained substantial experience in doing business in Malta.

Concurrent to her appointment as Milengo CFO, Tamara served as the Managing Director of Global Language Solutions, a multilingual translation and software localization agency for the IT industry. Tamara sits on the Board of Directors of a number of technology companies and is the founder and chairwoman of MaxConsult Ltd, a provider of an array of consulting services ranging from tax compliance to one-stop-shop solutions for business and corporate clients. Tamara brings considerable insight in strategic financial management and deep experience in corporate business development.

A native of Germany, Tamara holds a first degree in Business Administration with majors in Economics, Finance, HR and Project Management.

Rina Ne'eman

Managing Director, Rina Ne'eman Hebrew Language Services

Rina Ne’eman is a Hebrew translator and interpreter with over 25 years of industry expertise. The managing director of Rina Ne’eman Hebrew Language Services, Inc. (, Rina oversees all of the linguistic and business operations of the company. Katalin Orbán

Managing Director, Afford Translation and Interpreting

Katalin founded her company Afford in 2003 as part of a university project and it has been growing ever since. Afford has been using PM software to help manage projects and resources from early on and made the choice to utilize Plunet’s software about a year ago. She looks forward to sharing her experience with other LSPs.

Katalin has a degrees in Economic Sciences and Public Administration from Budapest University, where she specialized in small and medium-sized enterprises and e-business, and a degree in translation and interpreting from the Technical University of Budapest focusing on the business and economics of the field.

Diane Hanghøj Rohde

Owner and Manager, OnLine Translation

Diane has been in the translation business since 1989 when she established her own company OnLine Translation – Her company has been working with some of the largest companies in the industry and they operate in almost all fields. Their international network makes it possible to handle all language combinations.

Diane has worked with translation tools since mid 90’s. She also teaches in translation tools. She started to work with WebWordSystem in 2007 and we have been very qualified assisted by her and her crew in developing WebWordSystem due to their knowledge within CAT tools. OnLine Translation has implemented WebWordSystem and educated their translators in working with the tool. WebWordSystem has enabled OnLine Translation to offer its customers access to language technological tools – including translation memories and term bases.

Rafet Saltik

CEO, Referans Translation Services

Rafet is a translator since 1982 and the co-founder of Set Systems Translation Services, a company providing Translation services into Turkish, Kurdish, Farsi and Arabic worldwide. He served as a faculty member in the Istanbul University until 1998 and focused on CAT tools during the last 5 years. He acts as a wide area distributor for SDL Trados Technologies in 11 countries around Turkey and serves as a trainer for the same within Set Soft Information Technologies Co., Inc., another company he participated foundation of in 2006, and he leads web based software development and localization projects.

Rafet is a board member of the Translation Companies Association in Turkey, editor-in-chief of Referans Publishing House and author of numerous children titles.

Gene Schriver

CEO, GLOBO Language Solutions

Gene Schriver is the founder and CEO of GLOBO Language Solutions, a company specializing in on-demand human interpreting and translation solutions. GLOBO uses technology to deliver human linguistic talent on a real-time basis. Prior to founding GLOBO, Schriver led the growth of a small family language services company into one of the top twenty largest providers in the world, creating and executing the strategy that increased revenue 1,000 percent. He was directly responsible for introducing his company to the U.K. and European market, where in less than three years his organization became the largest provider of telephone interpreting services to the U.K. government. Mr. Schriver received his B.A., cum laude, in Economics from Temple University and his Juris Doctor from The Villanova University School of Law, where he served as an Executive of the Moot Court Board and as Class Commencement Speaker.

Christian Schwendy

Managing Director, Gemino

 Christian Schwendy is co-founder and managing director of Gemino, a translation and localisation company with offices in Munich and Berlin .

Since March 1993, Gemino has supported its clients with translations and adaptations of software, documentation and Web content for foreign-language markets. In this capacity, Gemino works directly with software manufacturers as well as with most large multi-language vendors.

Gemino’s range of services runs from consulting and localisation engineering to translation, revision and terminology work to DTP and testing. The Gemino team, which consists of 30 full-time employees and over 300 contract language partners, currently handles projects with a total volume of over 15 million words per year.

Largely due to Christian’s influence, Gemino focuses not only on quality technical translations and extensive technical expertise, but also on the latest translation and localisation technology. Great importance is thus placed on both the development of proprietary software tools to support and optimise workflows and the strategically correct selection of the translation memory technologies used.

Through Christian’s initiative, Gemino was among the first language service providers to evaluate MemoQ in actual projects using a client/server setup during the early phase of the product’s market introduction. Today Gemino uses the software on an increasing number of projects.

Tolga Secilmis

Asst. General Manager, Bircom Ltd.

Born in 1973, Tolga received his university degree as a Mechanical Engineer from Yildiz Technical University.

Tolga is the manager of software RND department at Bircom and working on a project called Bonsai (Mobile Software Development UGC platform) for "The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey". 

He has also been lecturing two courses (Localization and Multimedia Localization) at Yeditepe University since 2007. He has been in the localization industry for 11 years and has served as  Technical Test Group leader, held the position of Business Development Manager and Cairo Office Manager.

He has also been involved in Audio and Video localization technologies since 1999 and consulting Bircom telecommunication product team for localizing Bircom’s product portfolio

Haluk Sicimoglu

Executive Planning Director, BBDO Turkey

Haluk Sicimoglu is the Executive Planning Director at BBDO Turkey and a faculty member at Istanbul Bilgi University. He started his marketing communication career in 1988 at the research department of Manajans/Thompson. In 1991, he joined ALICE/BBDO family as the Director of Strategic Planning. He founded FOCUS 4, the first strategic brand planning company in Turkey. Between 1998-2000, Haluk acted as the Head of the Strategic Planning Department at BBDO University in Barcelona. Since then, he is a passionate fan of FC Barcelona and an official member of the club.

Haluk is also a columnist at MediaCat maganize since 2007.

Haluk Sicimoglu holds a BA in Business Administration major Marketing from the University of Akron and an MBA in Marketing from the University of Miami.

Manuela Simonetti

Managing Director, ILT Group

 Manuela has been in the language business since 1988, and have never given up learning about it: that is exactly what she likes about this business. When she started, widespread Internet use was still not a reality, and CAT tools were on their way out. Since then, much has changed and the market has been virtually revolutionised. New technology and tools, often meant to simplify, have often made business life more complex than desirable. But the key is to keep researching, reading, updating and experimenting. After graduating and specialising in applied linguistics and law, Manuela worked for a short while as researcher, then in SAP, first as graphic contract worker and then as translator and terminologist. In 1995, she founded Interlanguage Translation Ltd. in London and has run the company ever since, together with the Italian branch, ILT s.r.l., that was opened subsequently. Together with family and kids (who do all their best not to learn more than 1 language), Manuela now lives between London and Rome.

Belgin Tavil

General Manager, Kompass Turkey

Belgin received her B.S. in Civil Engineering from Middle East Technical University and her master of business administration with majors of finance from Bilkent University , where she also worked as a teaching assistant at the faculty of management.

Tavil began her career at HSBC Bank Istanbul at the Corporate Banking Department. She worked in several positions at head office and branch between years ’97 – ’06. Her last position was head of trade sales and sector head of non-bank financial institutions.

In 2006, Tavil joined Coface as commercial director. Apart from her responsibility at Coface, she also has been working as general manager of Kompass Turkey .

Vicenta Ten Soriano

Senior Regional Business Manager for the Language Technologies Division, SDL plc

Vincenta joined SDL 5 years ago, manages one of the European sales teams that looks after Language Services Providers. Involved in promoting the SDL LSP Partner Program.

Studied Spanish and Business Computing at Roehampton University, London were she worked teaching Spanish after graduating and until she joined SDL.

Marco Trombetti

CEO, Translated

Marco Trombetti founded Translated in 1999 and serves as its CEO. Translated is a web based localization company that offers language services to over 9.000 customers. Marco started his career developing IT solutions for the digital mapping industry and then worked as a consultant in the field of artificial intelligence, specializing in information retrieval and natural language processing. Marco is a serial entrepreneur and serves as a director at various technology companies. He studied physics at the University of Rome.

Leyla Zerger

Sales and Marketing Director, Kompass Turkey

Leyla graduated on “International Trade” in College in Istanbul and attended to Bilkent University “English Literature”.

She began her career at Turkish Airlines as a flight attendant for 4 years. Then she worked as an Assistant of the Construction Department” for a project which is run by “United Nations” and “World Bank”.

She began to work for Coface Group in 2001.
